We are extremely proud to have Jose Manuel Garcia on our team at Camino Health Center and even more so that he has been honored with the Values Award for Service.

Jose Manuel puts forth his best, both personally and professionally, to understand and respond to staff and patients. Courteous, with a great sense of humor, Jose Manuel is very dedicated to his work and is a true champion in the area of Service.

Hired in 1994, Jose Manuel has a long history with Camino. Initially hired as a Patient Services Representative in our front office, he has since worked in various departments at the health center. In 1997, he became the health center’s Business Office Manager and, in 2012, was promoted to his current position of Clinic Operations Director.

Jose Manuel attended the University of Phoenix where he received his Bachelor degree in Business Management (2012) and Master in Business Administration (2016).

  • Sergio Ulises Rodas, MD

    Sergio Ulises Rodas, MD, Chief Medical Officer

    20 Year Anniversary!


Dr. Rodas was hired on December 1, 1997 as one of Camino Health Center’s staff physicians. He has been the health center’s Chief Medical Officer since 2000.

Dr. Rodas cared for the underserved population in Ventura County before relocating to Orange County – something he thought would be a temporary move. He began to see first-hand of the need for a health center in Orange County and believed in the values and ethics of Camino Health Center. He also appreciated the supportive and compassionate staff at Camino. In 2017, Dr. Rodas celebrated his 20 year tenure at the health center with its growing staff of caring and dedicated colleagues.

When time permits, Dr. Rodas enjoys reading and bird watching. He shares a lively household with his wife and their three children and their menagerie of pets, including service dog, Archie. Dr. Rodas is also a graduate of the Mission and Mentoring program.

  • Paz Esqueda

    Paz Esqueda, Perinatal Coordinator

    25 Year Anniversary!


Paz was hired on October 1, 1992 as our Perinatal Coordinator when Camino Health Center was known as the South County Community Clinic. This year she celebrates 25 years of service with us and has seen our clinic grow to three sites! Paz works with Camino’s specialty volunteer doctors and perinatal clients. In her 25 years as a perinatal coordinator, some of the infants Paz helped care for when she first started are now expecting children of their own, having become clients of a new generation. Paz is a graduate of the Mission Gains Momentum program. From her experience in the program, she has learned that you always see each person as a sacred encounter, remarking how special that is. Paz is active with her church and she enjoys cooking and sewing when she has the time. She especially loves spending time hiking with granddaughters, Adriana, 12 and Alesandra, 11. Paz also likes to travel and is planning on taking a trip to the Caribbean next year.

    Melissa Calvillo, WIC Nutrition Assistant II

    10 Year Anniversary!


Melissa began her journey with Camino when she was hired as a WIC Nutrition Aide in September 2007. She received her Certificate of Achievement as a California WIC Nutrition Assistant in 2008 and in 2010 was promoted to her current position of WIC Nutrition Assistant II.

Melissa is known for her outgoing personality, loyalty, her laugh, and her ability to make people smile. She has been recognized for the core values of service, excellence, and justice.

Family time is important to Melissa and she enjoys going to the movies, the park, and playing games with her three children. In the winter, it’s a treat for the family to bake goodies and drink hot chocolate together. Melissa’s active home life keeps her on the go and when she needs winding down it’s off to the spa for some relaxing ‘me’ time!

    Ana Sanchez, WIC Program Assistant

    10 Year Anniversary!


Ana has been a part of Camino WIC since July 2007 when she was hired as a WIC Aide. Over the past ten years, Ana has been promoted twice and has been recognized for all four of the health center’s core values: dignity, service, excellence, and justice.

Ana is known for her patience, honesty, team player attitude, and ability to anticipate the needs of others. She is both a Certified WIC Nutrition Assistant and a Certified Lactation Educator.

Ana enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. They are also pet parents to sweet dog, Teddy, a Maltese. Spring break is an exciting time for Ana and her family. It’s when they take their most memorable family vacation. Their favorite getaway? Cancun!

  • Randy Smith

    Randy Smith, COO

    10 Year Anniversary!


Randy transferred to Camino Health Center in July 2007 from St. Jude Medical Center where he worked as a Care Coordinator for the Family Caregiver Support Program. He occupied the role of Program Manager until being promoted to Program Director in 2012. In 2014, Randy was promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Randy is a graduate of the Mission and Mentoring program and felt it a privilege to be given the opportunity to integrate its lessons into his daily work experiences. Randy has been recognized by his colleagues for exemplifying the core values of: dignity, service, and excellence.

Randy enjoys getting out onto the court for a good game of tennis. What was once a casual diversion, Randy has played in multiple tournaments over the years, winning several along the way.

  • Velva Berger

    Velva Berger, Nurse Practitioner

    25 Year Anniversary!


When Velva was hired on February 24, 1992 Camino Health Center was known as the South County Community Clinic. Velva now celebrates 25 years of caring service with us and has seen our health center grow to three sites! Velva is our longest tenured provider at the health center and has been an integral part of our provider team. Velva is a certified Family and Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Velva treats all of our patients including our pregnant moms. In 2012, Velva graduated from the Mission Gains Momentum program. She was excited to learn more about the heritage that led up to the work we continue to this day and was taken by the Sisters’ struggle to forge their way to developing such a wonderful ministry. Velva lives in San Clemente and loves being by the beach. She shares her home with husband Eric and their lovable, not to mention photogenic Schnauzer, Gracie! Velva has two grown children of whom she is very proud; son Austin, an attorney practicing in New York and Alison who is a teacher at the Journey School in Aliso Viejo. She is thrilled to be Nana to grandsons Harrison, three years old, and Franklin, nine months old.
